Megan's face flushed, shouting, "The title of Mrs. Stirling will always be mine, and no one is going to take that from me. But don't worry, I'll take good care of Kane. He won't be shortchanged." Her smile was sinister as she considered a spacious plot in the Stirling family mausoleum, a peaceful resting place for Kane.
A cold glint flickered in Aurelia's eyes, "I know you had something to do with Kane's predicament. I've warned you, harm Kane, and I'll make your life a living hell." Megan let out a scornful laugh, her eyes dripping with contempt for Aurelia.
"If you think some petty Facebook slander can touch me, then, by all means, post away." Aurelia’s lips curled into a sly smile, "I've always believed in giving people a taste of their own medicine." With that, she turned on her heels and left, her mission accomplished for the day.
Megan took a seat, sipping on her juice, waiting for Leopold to return, but he never did. He had already left with Aurelia.
On the drive back, Leopold felt that Aurelia was acting strangely.

A flash of anger crossed Aurelia's face, "And when is the right time? After she's succeeded in killing Kane?" "Aurelia!" Leopold steadied her shoulders, "Please, don't rush things. | have a plan, and she won't be able to keep this up much longer." Aurelia didn't buy his assurances. He was just too sentimental, and the child Megan was carrying might be his. The promises of chastity were mere fairy tales to deceive.
Men were not reliable, so she could only count on herself.
"I know what | have to do. We have nothing to do with each other anymore. If it weren't for Kane, | wouldn't even want to cross paths with you," she spat bitterly.
Leopold let out a helpless sigh, "You're speaking in anger again." Aurelia turned her gaze out of the car window, no longer willing to engage with him.
She knew all too well that a woman who pins her hopes on a man was bound to get hurt.
To survive with no strings attached was the only way for a woman.
Silence draped the car for the remainder of the journey.
The next morning, Leopold was woken by Megan's call.
"Darling, I've broken out in a rash, and it's so itchy." "You might've been bitten by a mosquito. Have the bodyguard take you to the hospital to check it out,” Leopold replied indifferently, hanging up the phone.
Megan's heart surged with disappointment like relentless waves.
Red welts had appeared on her legs, looking like bug bites, intolerably itchy despite the ointment. She reluctantly went to the hospital, accompanied by her bodyguard.

She hoped the medicine would improve her condition, but by midnight, the rash had spread alarmingly, looking terrifying.
When Leopold arrived at the hospital after getting the bodyguard's call, Megan was unrecognizable, her body covered in rashes, the itching unbearable.
She couldn't take it anymore and screamed desperately.
The nurses, fearing she might hurt herself, had no choice but to restrain her.
After running blood tests, the doctor ruled out measles, eczema, hives, and other conditions.
By the third day, the rash had blistered, each one stinging like a needle.
Megan's voice was hoarse from yelling, feeling worse than death.
"Leopold, | must have been poisoned. It's Aurelia who has cursed me. Go find her. If | die, she won't get away with it either."
