Chapter 354 Having Something on Her

He hadn’t expected to receive a message from someone he hadn’t heard from in a long time.

It turned out Amelie was still alive.

“What’s wrong? You look so happy.”

The couple sitting at the dining table looked at him curiously.

“No, nothing.”

Aaron said quickly, waving his hands. He was afraid that they would find out.

He remembered Amelie’s warning against him revealing her identity to anyone, lest it put her in danger.

“Mom and Dad, I have something to do. If you need anything, just call me.”

He said before hurrying out.

Amelie had arrived at her destination. Instead of going directly into the villa, she found a hidden spot to wait.

After a while, she saw Aaron approaching.

She then hurried over.

“Aaron, it’s been so long.”

Aaron was overjoyed to see Amelie, whom he had missed so much.

“Amelie, you finally show up. Do you have any idea how hard we’ve been searching for you these past three years?

Where have you been?”

He said with concern.

For a moment, Amelie didn’t know how to explain. She was so happy to see Aaron again.

“I’m sorry Aaron. I have my reasons for keeping my identity hidden. If anyone found out who I am, it could put you

all in danger. But knowing that you’re with our parents gives me peace of mind.”

“What happened to make you hide from your family for three years? How long do you plan on keeping this up?”

Amelie clenched her fists and hesitated.

She couldn’t let her family be put in danger.

With that thought in mind, she decided not to tell them the truth.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”

She said evasively.

Aaron could tell that she wasn’t being completely honest but didn’t press the issue. He simply nodded.

“Since you’ve said that, I won’t ask any more questions. But you must ensure your safety no matter what. There

must be no problems. Although our family doesn’t have much status here, it’s different abroad. Now that our

parents are hale, I’ve discussed with them to grow our foreign assets. That way, we’ll have a way to come back in

the future.”

Aaron said solemnly, trying to comfort her.

“Aaron, there’s one thing I hope you can check for me.”

“What is it?”

At the Byron family’s villa, Lamont pushed open the door.

The nanny heard the sound and hurried over.

“Sir? Why are you back so early?”

Lamont didn’t reply but walked straight into the study.

He closed the door, turned on the computer, and inserted a flash drive.

As he looked at the photos displayed on the screen, he examined each one carefully.

He finally figured out Amelie’s true identity.

“So, it really is you. But why did you lie to me?”

He muttered to himself.

The next day, the media was filled with reports about the daughter of the Aylward family. They didn’t pay attention

to anything else.

Amelie checked the time and sat nervously in a coffee shop.

She had made an appointment with someone today, and this person was very important.

Amelie wore a cap and a mask to cover her appearance, lest others recognize her.

She was so cautious because the identity of the person she was meeting was not trivial.

She checked the time and saw that it was already half past nine. But there was no sign of anyone at the door of the

coffee shop.

She wrinkled her brows.

Had the person missed the meeting?

She quickly checked her phone again.

It couldn’t be. This matter was too important for the other person to simply not show up.

Just as she was starting to wonder what to do, a furtive figure appeared at the door.

Amelie looked over and confirmed that it was none other than the person she was waiting for.

The woman approached and sat down across from her.

“It’s you who wanted to see me? What do you want? Where did you get those photos?”

The woman asked angrily.

Amelie didn’t reply. Instead, she placed a file in front of the woman.

“Ms. Lopez, these photos don’t actually mean anything. The important thing is this document. Since you’ve signed

it, you should know that it’s legally binding. You can’t escape it. If you tell me some hidden information about the

Aylward Group, maybe I can protect you.”

She said calmly.

“Why should I trust you?”

The woman asked suspiciously.

“Because I have these documents in my possession. This is just a copy. I’ve hidden the originals well.”

“What are you trying to do? Who are you? Why are you targeting me?”

“Ms. Lopez, I’m not targeting you. The Aylward Group is targeting you. Do you really think Willard will let you go

after you resign?”

Amelie countered.

“He promised to give me 200,000 dollars if I kept my mouth shut and vanished.”

“200,000 dollars? That’s quite the sum, but you know, there’s a better way to solve it.”

Amelie locked eyes with the woman, her gaze unwavering. The woman couldn’t help but shudder under her intense

scrutiny.

You mean, he’d have me killed?”

“You’ve been with the Aylward Group for years. You must know what kind of man Willard is. He’s managed to stay

hidden all this time. Do you really think his success is due to playing it safe?”

As Amelie spoke, realization dawned on the woman.

“You’re right. I can’t believe I fell for his deceit so easily. That old fox is truly cunning!”

“Trusting him would only lead to your ruin. To him, the dead are best at keeping secrets.”

The woman looked devastated.

She closed her eyes, and her hands trembled.

“I never expected to be saddled with this ticking time bomb, but he’ll find me, no matter where I run. Willard’s

reach is long. Even if I flee the country, he’ll track me down.”

The woman’s voice trembled with fear.

“So, the best plan is to align yourself with his enemies. If you join forces with me and hand over all his confidential

files, I can promise you protection for the rest of your life.’

“You think you can do that?”

The woman stared at Amelie, incredulous, finding the idea utterly absurd.

“From what I’ve gathered, you’re no ordinary person, and your ties with Willard run deep. Why should I put my faith

in you?”

“Don’t you recall the events of yesterday? I exposed Leila’s deeds. Surely that demonstrates my resolve.”
