He looked at Nick. “Nick, Noel is your brother, and you and your uncle both know Python. I
believe he will let Noel go if you speak to him.”
Nick didn’t budge. “You wouldn’t care even if I needed to sacrifice my life?”
Arthur was startled. “Your uncle will be there. He won’t let anything happen to you.”
Nick closed his mouth and didn’t speak.
He would always say that his uncle would be there, but he would never say, “I will be
there,” even though
he was his father
“Have you ever considered that if you give Python whatever he wants, he won’t harm
Noel?”
Arthur’s face dropped. “What do you know? Python is a crafty man. Do you think that’s all
he wants? He wants to run his freight business at our pier. If we let him, how many losses
will we suffer?”
