Chapter 999

Franky glanced at the rearview mirror and shook his head, saying, "Not anymore.”

Milan sneered. "Boring. To Chardu, then."

Franky turned the car around and drove toward the outskirts of the city before we arrived at a small villa.

| was unconscious throughout the journey and found myself in an unfamiliar environment when | woke up.

| felt a sharp pain in my arm and tried to move it but had no strength.

After making a few attempts and sweating buckets, | finally gave up.

My throat was dry, and | caught sight of a glass of water placed on the bedside table out of the corners of my

eyes. | shifted my body to get it, but because | could not lift my arm, | was not able to get it.

Just as | was at a loss at what to do, a defined hand suddenly took hold of the glass.

| was stunned, then looked up.

| was surprised when | saw the familiar and cool face. "Jordan?"

When | spoke, | realized how hoarse my voice was and how painful my throat was.

The man nodded, and his cool face tugged into a hint o f a smile. "Drink swater first."

He sat on the side of the bed and reached out to help m e up. My body was leaning against his and I instinctively

wanted to keep my distance, but he pressed my shoulders down. "You're sick now. Don't overthink things."

| pursed my lips and stopped moving.

He brought the glass of water to my mouth and hinted atto drink it.

| took a few sips and felt that my throat was so much more comfortable now.

Jordan put the glass down and gently placeddown on the bed again.

He looked atwith tender eyes. "Do you want to eat something?"

| shook my head. "I'm not hungry.”

He did not ask anything else and sat on the side without saying anything.

I had a bunch of questions in my heart, so | looked at him and asked, "What are you doing here, Mr. Frederick?

Do you know Milan?"

He looked up atwith a calm and indifferent gaze." This is the Fredericks' private hospital."

"The Fredericks?" | was suddenly unsure. "The Fredericks in the country?"

He raised his eyebrows. "The Fredericks who saved your life.”

| grew even more confused. "Why did you save me?"

He smiled slightly. "I didn't intend to save you. Anyway, it was nothing difficult.”

| frowned. "You sent your men to look forin South Peacerton and you're saying that you didn't intend to save

me?"

He asked with a chuckle, "Did you forget what you promisedback in Riverbank City?”

The man was charming enough when he did not smile, not to mention how dazzling he looked when he did.

| could not help but froze. | actually forgot.

The man sighed. "I don't like it when a person breaks their word. If it happens, I'll find them and get to the

bottom of it."

The excuse sounded very forced.

However, | had no plans of continuing to ask why. | glanced down at my arm and asked, "How’s my arm?"

He raised his eyebrows. "No biggie. It'll be fine once it's healed. But you can't lift heavy items in the future."

| pursed my lips and nodded my head.

There were movements outside. | thought it was Milan but it was actually the nurse who cin to dress my

wound.

| did not know Milan and Jordan's relationship, so it was best to stay vigilant.

After my wounds were dressed, | had sof the oatmeal Jordan ordered someone to bring. | could not help but «

fall asleep when drowsiness hit.
