“He’s clueless, I’m a bit on the edge! Guess I’ll have to go back myself.”
Teresa held onto her son, “Are you okay? I had the doctor check on you yesterday. He said you’re overworking your
brain, which could bring back those headache episodes! Plus, you thinking too much could make things worse! I
wish you’d take a break and spend some time with me.”
Taylor gently patted her hand, “I’m good! Don’t worry, I’ll stop if I feel off.”
“Well… okay! Drive safe.”
Taylor grabbed his keys and hit the road to the office. On the way, he dialed Leah’s number from the business card.

Taylor paused, then replied, “I’m always free! But, about what you said… can you provide some… proof? Can’t just
take your word for it!”
Leah laughed softly, “Of course I have proof! You’ll see when you decide to work with me! Everything I’ve said
about the past is true! It might shatter your world, but it’s the real deal!”
“What I want to know is, what’s your end game? Looks like you’re standing up for Clara because of what my mom
did, but you’re also trying to mess with her life by spreading that scandal!”
“Mr. Atwood, you’re a smart guy, can’t you figure it out?”
“… You want Emmett.”
Leah played coy, “I thought I made it pretty clear!”
“So, we’re just your pawns.”
“Not entirely! After all, I told you the truth that’s been haunting you, didn’t I? You’ve been searching for the truth all
these years, must’ve been rough. I heard you pulled a lot of strings to dig it up!” Leah sighed, “Too bad, without me
being a Milburn, you’d never find a thing! Your mom really spent a fortune to cover this up!”
Taylor stayed silent.
“After I found out, I wondered why your mom would rather pay than accept Clara! Then I realized it must be
because of Clara’s father! I get a mom’s love for her son, but it’s not right to stand in the way of love! Especially
knowing how much you loved Clara!”
Taylor’s grip on the steering wheel tightened.
