Chapter 22 Before Tristan could finish explaining, a bodyguard threw an old man covered in wounds inside.

Tristan recognized him. It was Liam.

Two days ago, Xavier had someone find Yara and Terrence, who had fled overseas.

That was when he had found out that Yvette had been supposed to marry Liam a 1 not Claude! Thus, he'd had the old man kidnapped.

After experiencing a day of torture, Liam still claimed he didn't know where Yvette had gone. Xavier stared at Liam with a depthless gaze. "Do you still want to marry Yvette?" With injuries all over his body, Liam hurriedly bowed his head. "No, no, I wouldn't dare..." He was then dragged outside. It was obvious what was going to happen to him.

Xavier's face was expressionless. His gaze fell on Tristan. Did you just defend Yvette?" Tristan's throat tightened, but he didn't deny it. "I just think there's no need to keep treating her badly." Xavier's grip on his pen slowly grew tighter, and the veins popped on the back of his hand. "She treatedbadly first." With that, he stood. "Tristan, you don't really think she's dead, do you? Have you never heard of the saying 'the wicked +15 BONUS live forever'? Someone like her could never die!" It sounded like Xavier was lying to himself and the people around him.

The alarm on his phone went off. Xavier glanced at the time, then got off work, leaving Tristan alone in this empty office.

Tristan gripped the crystal pendant so tightly that his palm was bleeding before he finally loosened his grip.

When he cout, he found Liam, who had been tossed by the side of the road, on last breath. "Take him back," he ordered coldly. Dewberry Manor was eerily silent. There was a bright red suitcase in the middle of the living room that seemed out of place.

After Xavier got hon time, he sat on the couch that Yvette had always sat on.

Everything felt the sas before, yet different.

After sitting there for a long time, his gaze fell on the suitcase. Tristan had someone send Yvette's belongings. over, but Xavier had yet to open the bag.

He stepped forward and leaned down to open it. The password was simple-his birthday. He knew this because Yvette used his birthday for every password in the manor.

Inside the suitcase, he saw sdaily necessities and clothes. The things were so basic that it didn't seem like a woman's suitcase.

+15 BONUS Xavier didn't dare go through Yvette's things and shut the suitcase again.

Without having dinner, he went to the bedroom that had originally belonged to both of them. The moment he stepped inside, he spotted Yvette's ashes as well as the black-and-white photo next to it.

It wasn't possible to test DNA after cremation, but Xavier was certain that Yvette wasn't dead.

She wouldn't choose to die, nor would she have the guts to die! How could someone who feared pain as much as Yvette did dare to die? She was just bluffing him so that she could be with Claude.

Xavier had had someone look into Claude. The latter had remained single and unmarried. He was Prince Charming in Yvette's eyes, as well as her childhood friend.

Xavier didn't sleep well that night. The next day, he woke up very early. By the the was done freshening up, Mark had sent him sbreakfast.

At first, Xavier didn't feel any differences in lifestyle. As tpassed, he slowly realized a few things.

There was one less plate on the dining table and one more photo in the house, When he didn't chome, he stopped receiving texts urging him to cback. And when he did chome, the lights weren't on....

Before he knew it, he started coming hmuch earlier and 1/4 +15 BONUS even on time.

Everyone in the office noticed this change in Xavier. When Yvette had still been alive, Xavier would purposely work until late at night and refuse to go home. One of his secretaries lamented, "Just how much did Mr. Lane hate that deaf woman? Now that she's dead, he has been leaving the office on tevery day."

"If I were a man as excellent as Mr.

Lane, I wouldn't fall for a deaf girl.
