Chapter 239 The Wrong Woman

Lewis was reading something on his phone, so Sierra went closer to look at it. When she saw what was

on the screen, her face froze.

Contrary to her initial expectations, he wasn’t engrossed in something unrelated. Instead, he was

merely scrolling through Instagram, the app nearly crashing due to the drama unfolding between the

three of them.

Johan was pretty popular, having more than twenty million followers. His followers went mad, thinking

that it was Sierra who tried to hit on Johan.

Because of that, they even commented on Lewis’ posts to talk bad about her, hoping Lewis would see

her true, slutty side.

The statement which he just released made thousands of people green with envy too.

In their eyes, she was just a woman with a penchant for pursuing multiple men. They believed that her

involvement in the entertainment industry was solely due to the resources provided by Lewis, as she

lacked any significant social status or background. It struck them as absurd that he continued to defend

her, even in the face of her infidelity.

It was a common saying that when someone possessed exceptional strength beyond that of everyone

else, it would only elicit feelings of jealousy among the others. However, when someone was only

slightly superior to others, it tended to evoke a sense of resentment in

everyone.

Sierra fell into the latter category. She seemed to lack any notable skills or abilities other than her good

looks, yet she managed to get Lewis to fall for her. That left everyone wondering why Sierra Woods,

when they themselves could be just as deserving of his attention.

“Why are you looking at this?”

Hearing that, Lewis put away his phone. Glancing at Sierra, he asked, “Found what you want?”

Sierra grunted in response. She wasn’t really in the mood to shop anymore. “Yeah.”

Lewis reached for his card from his pocket and passed it to the shop assistant.

The shop assistant accepted the card and swiped it. She also packed up Sierra’s wet clothes and

returned them to her.

She could only watch Sierra with envy.

The hotel incident garnered significant attention. Anyone who had access to the Internet would know

about this, so naturally, the shop assistants knew too. Seeing Lewis and Sierra with their own eyes was

much different from reading about them online.

Lewis got up and said, “Since you’re done, let’s head back.”

Sierra quickly asked, “Aren’t you going to follow me back home?”

Lewis caught sight of a paparazzi camera flashing somewhere out of the corner of his eyes. So, he

didn’t turn her down right then.

Sierra didn’t cover up herself for today’s shopping either. She wanted the paparazzi to

photograph her and see how her relationship with Lewis was not affected by that incident at

all.

By doing so, the gossip surrounding her and Johan would eventually fade away as time passed.

Moreover, this incident could serve as a well-timed publicity stunt for the upcoming TV series.

There were always stunts like this right before the premier of a movie or TV series. These deliberation

actions would attract more attention to the series, increasing viewership and ratings.

Tugging his elbow, Sierra whispered, “The paparazzi are photographing this. If you don’t come along

with me, they’ll surely write unfavorable articles about us.”

After thinking for a while, Lewis placed his arm on Sierra’s waist with a smile. No one could. tell what

was on his mind. “Let’s go. I’ll send you home.”

Sierra was overwhelmed with joy, and she embraced him even tighter, causing their bodies to press

closely against each other.

Just like that, the two allowed the paparazzi to take tons of pictures of them openly.

As Lewis drove Sierra back home, he noticed several cars tailing them. A smug smirk formed on his

lips as he observed them through the rearview mirror, opting not to take any action. Pretending not to

notice their presence, he maintained his composure and continued driving.

The night rain became heavier, and heavy raindrops dinged furiously off the tin roof.

Josephine was woken up by the sound of heavy rain. Instinctively, she reached out to her side. but

could feel no one there.

She opened her eyes and found that the bed was empty and cold. Her eyes dimmed as she stared at

the unoccupied pillow.

Since she threw up too much before bed, she became hungry again. Her stomach churned and

growled in protest.

She left the bed and went downstairs. Both Mrs. Larson and Mrs. White had gone to bed already. At

that moment, the mansion seemed emptier than ever.

For the past two days, they had diligently cleaned up the mansion. Every nook and cranny had been

attended to, and even the white drapes had been taken down, restoring the mansion to its original

appearance.

Josephine felt the familiarity of the mansion and the loneliness of being in it.

She poured herself a glass of water and was about to turn on the TV as she sat on the couch when she

heard someone knocking on the door from outside.

Stunned, she checked the time on the wall. It was already two in the morning. Who could be here at

this hour?

Her

grip on the glass tightened. She didn’t dare to open the door.

But the knocking didn’t stop. The sound of heavy rain added to the unsettling ambiance, creating an

eerie and mysterious atmosphere that sent chills down Josephine’s spine.

Unable to suppress her unease, Josephine swallowed nervously, quickly downing the whole glass of

water before darting upstairs. She dashed into the bedroom and hid under the covers.

The strange knocking sound finally couldn’t be heard anymore.

Josephine clutched her chest, feeling her heart racing, unable to fall asleep. She could only stare at

that empty pillow at her side until the break of dawn. She was so afraid. But Lewis never came back.

In the end, Josephine had to endure the whole night all by herself.

As the first rays of dawn illuminated the sky, the soft light filtered into the bedroom, casting a gentle

glow. Exhaustion weighed heavily on Josephine, and her eyelids drooped with weariness. Unable to

resist any longer, she surrendered to sleep.

At the Alvarez Group.

Seth was sitting in the office with a teacup in his hand. He was peacefully sipping his tea. Sitting across

him was none other than Lewis.

It was difficult to fathom how just a month ago, these two men had been at odds; their relationship

strained and fraught with tension. Yet, here they were, sitting together in a surprising display of peace

and harmony, enjoying their tea in tranquil coexistence.

Eyes still on the tea in his cup, Seth said with a smile, “I have to say that Derek is quite a timid man.

After half a day of work, he only created a small drama out of it.”

The gossip was what he was referring to.

Although the gossip surrounding Sierra and Johan was spreading like nobody’s business, it didn’t affect

the Alvarez Group at all.

On the contrary, it catalyzed a spike in the Alvarez Corp’s shares. They could imagine how

furious Derek must be at his home.

It was clear that Derek’s intentions might have been to expose their ulterior motives, but the wornan

involved here wasn’t the right one.

Had the situation involved a different person, such as the mute woman, Lewis would likely not maintain

the same level of composure and tranquility, even in the absence of widespread

media coverage of the incident.

Leaning against the couch, Lewis smoked quietly, not replying to Seth’s words.

“What’s up, Lewis? Are you feeling pity toward Sierra?” Seth chuckled and asked.

“When

you were using Josephine, you didn’t seem to hold back even a bit last time.”

Lewis had used Josephine twice. The first time was when Magic Cube had Seth, and the second. time

was with Mr. Walter.

Due to the incident involving Mr. Walter, Seth and Kiran had become enemies. Seth found himself

compelled to align with Lewis in this matter, as he had no other viable option.

And the first thing he had to do would be to provoke Derek at the court so he’d fall for the trap.

Lewis moved his gaze onto his face and asked casually, “Have you finished your job? You seem quite

free here.”

Taking a sip of tea, Seth leaned back lazily. “My dear big brother, you asked me to take breaks

occasionally. Why are you making me work harder now?”

“Don’t call me your big brother… “After saying this, Lewis chuckled briefly before changing the subject.

“I should be the one calling you big brother, actually.”

Seth’s face darkened, but he laughed after a moment, although his laughter was tinged with

anger.

He set his cup down on the table. “You’re right. I shouldn’t be too carefree at the moment. Should you

get upset with me and decide to kill me, I wouldn’t just lose what I want, but I’d even lose my life, isn’t

it?”

After that, he turned to leave the office.

Eyes fixated on Seth’s back, the smile on Lewis’ face gradually disappeared. All that was left. was

coldness.
