Chapter 266
"What is it?" Julia was mumbling. Perhaps, she was brushing her teeth or eating something.
Amelie blinked. "Help me tell tire director of'Show Your Love' that I wish to quit the show."
"Quit the show?" It took a while for Julia to respond.
Nearly a minute later, she asked. "Didn't filming go well? Why do you suddenly want to quit? Is it
because of Jodie? If it's because of her, I'll convince the director to kick her out."
"It has nothing to do with her." Jodie was so insignificant that she was not worth thinking about.
"I just don't want any misunderstandings to occur."
"You mean with Blakey?" Julia immediately understood what she meant.
"Yes."
"Isn't it good to date him? I think it's a good idea." Julia had always liked Blake, so she could not resist
defending him. "He's hardworking and very sincere when it comes to his loved ones. He's an orphan,
so he knows to cherish the people around him. Trust me, Elie. You will have a good life with him."
Amelie's greatest headache was Julia's tendency to constantly convince her Blake was a good man.
"He is a perfect man, but that is exactly why I don't want to ruin him."
She certainly thought the sight of her- name next to his was a stain on his reputation.
"I don't want him to misunderstand anything."
Julia heaved a sigh. "The truth is, you just don't want to date him."
All this talk about misunderstandings and stains was still not as strong of an argument as "she did not
like him".
"I do like him, but only as a little brother." That was what she felt since the very first moment they met.
Julia sighed again. "What a pity. It is unrequited love. You think of him as a little brother, but he likely
thinks of you as the woman he loves. I didn't think so before, but ever since I watched the episode with
tire two of you, I do not doubt it at all. Elie, are you trying to carve out his heart? He will be upset."
"I don't want to carve out Iris heart. I merely want him to turn his love to tire right person."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe did not want to hurt him any further, so quitting the show was the best hint she could give.
It would not hurt his ego, and it was a clear declaration of her stance.
Julia knew she was the kind of person who could never be convinced otherwise after she had settled
on a decision. "All right," she said with a sigh. "I'll do my best to help you convey the message."
Peace returned in tire following days.
During the day, Amelie focused on the reading course while she streamed at night.
Her reading course was getting more and more popular by the day because the books she chose and
the curriculum she designed were the best while the course was so affordable that anyone coxrld afford
it. More and more people started visiting her site and her user retention rate was also rather high.
She added a few more specialty columns to the site and even uploaded videos of calligraphy tutorials
that could only be explained through videos on the website.
On the weekends, she would spend her time with Bria and Steven.
Sometimes, the three of them went for a picnic and enjoyed the scenery; sometimes, they stayed at
home and enjoyed a family dinner.
Their days were so peace&l.
One day, Julia suddenly called her. "Elie, do you know who is asking about you?"
"Who?" Amelie casually asked back. Her gaze was focused on the report in front of her.
"Melissa Richards!" Julia coldly chuckled. "I don't know what's wrong with that woman, but she's asking
everyone about where Foxy lives. She wants to know where she could find you."
"What does she want with me?" Amelie was startled. Her gaze may still be trained on the report, but
her mind was elsewhere.
From what she knew, Melissa wasn't aware that she used to be her ex-daughter-in-law.
"Who knows?" Julia was puzzled as well. "Did Jodie badmouth you after- heading home? Perhaps
she's after you to get revenge."
That might be possible.
Amelie knew that Melissa did not really love Jodie that much, but any torment Jodie suffered would be
a slap to tire face. Melissa would surely scheme and seek revenge.
"That means I have to hide from her," she said, but there was no sign of fear on her face.
Julia did not think too much about it as well. The two continued to chat for a while before hanging up.
Julia had just ended the call when someone called Amelie.
Staring down at tire unfamiliar- string of numbers, Amelie coxrld not think of who it coxrld be.
Still, she answered it as she was afraid of missing an important call. "Hey."
"Is this Miss Foxy?" The man's voice rang with obvious intent to flatter her. "I'm the director of'Show
Your Love'."
"Hello," Amelie politely replied after a moment of shock.
"Miss Foxy, can we meet up? I have a very important favor to ask of you," he said.
While she was not sure why he wanted to talk to her, she still could not outright say no when it was
possible for her to say yes.
"Alright."
Since she did not want him to know she lived in Halport, she suggested meeting him in Clouson City.
The address he gave her was a cafe within the studio.
It was a quiet place that offered a lot of privacy. Natxrrally, Amelie was happy with the suggestion.
After telling Steven where she was going, she drove over to Clouson City.
When she arrived at the studio with her mask on, everyone at the studio began whispering to each
other.
Foxy was a name everyone knew by now. She had 100 million fans but after joining 'Show Your- Love',
her generosity and the scene with Blake won her another wave of fans.
Everyone was familiar with her mask now.
Even if they had never watched her stream before, they still recognized her.
"It's Foxy."
"Goodness. Foxy is here."
"I-Is she the one with Blake?"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Oh, she looks so much more beautiful in person."
"What nonsense. You have not even seen her face before."
"Her voice is so sweet that I don't need to look at her face."
Amelie wanted to stick her tongue out when she listened to the crowd talk about her. If she did not have
to hide her true identity from the director, she truly did not want to walk around with her mask on.
Thankfully, everyone who was at the studio was a professional. No one was stopping her to ask for
photos or anything else. At most, they just said hi to her.
"Hey. Miss Foxy!"
Just as Amelie wondered how she was meant to find out where the cafe was located, she was snapped
out of her thoughts by a friendly call.
She turned toward the sound and saw the director striding over to her with a bag slung across his
shoulders.
"Come. Right this way." The director cheerfully guided her to the cafe.
It was a quiet and comfortable place. The black and white decor made the place look quite subdued yet
not at all plain.
Quite a few popular show hosts were sitting in the cafe. They were either enjoying a cup of coffee or
focusing on work. None of them were talking to each other.
The director led her to a private room before closing the door behind them.
"Please sit, Miss Foxy." He pulled out a chair and gestured for her to sit.
Embarrassed by his enthusiastic attitude, she thanked him and sat down. "Tell me what you want, Mr-.
Hampton."
Mi-. Hampton ran a hand over the top of his balding head and grinned.
Just as she thought he was about to speak, a loud bang echoed through the room as he kneeled down
before her.
Amelie was rendered speechless.
She stared at him with wide eyes, so shocked that she had pushed her chair several inches backward.
"Mr. Hampton, you..."
