Chapter 118

Remington was the nthat echoed in whispers throughout the ranks. He was Benjamin’s nephew. He had

been a child prodigy inducted into the special forces at eight and chosen for an elite squad of two hundred

operatives sent abroad at sixteen. By twenty-one, he was the suprleader of that formidable pack. When

people spoke of Remington, it was with a mix of awe and fear.

Natalie, shrouded in a mask and a baseball cap, was virtually a stranger to Remington. He had only caught a

glimpse of her once as a child, and even that memory was a faded blur.

“You're Azure?” Remington turned, locking eyes with Natalie for a moment.

“Yes.” Her voice was an enigma, capable of three distinct tones. It was a trick of the trade she'd mastered in her

voice acting classes.

Remington scanned her from top to toe. Dressed in black, Natalie had her hair pulled back into a ponytail clean

and sharp. Her gaze was icy yet oddly nonchalant with a hint of rebellious spirit.

She seemed to be in her early twenties, certainly no older than twenty-four. The n‘Azure’. which had

becsynonymous with a leading mercenary record, belonged surprisingly not to a grizzled veteran, but to a

young woman - and to Remington’s amazement, one significantly younger than anticipated.

“I guess there’s no need to talk.” The man beside Remington couldn’t help but smirk, grabbing his leather jacket

to leave.

How did this girl even dare to ask him, the deputy leader, and Remington, the boss, to travel thousands of miles

just to meet her?

“Zack, sit down,” Remington warned with a firm tone.

Everyone who met Azure for the first tdoubted her reputation. How could a young woman hold such a lethal

record? She was so young and was a woman.

But Azure had once silently eliminated a high-profile target, fortified like Fort Knox, within thirty-six hours,

leaving no trace behind. It was an act that bordered on the miraculous. How did she accomplish such a feat that

remained a mystery?

Remington had studied Azure's file extensively, pondering over her credentials before deciding to meet her face-

to-face.

Yet now, seeing her in person, Remington couldn't help but feel a tremor of doubt.

But she was Max Moore's prized student. Max, in the world of martial arts, carried the weight of legacy from the

venerable Moore family. She had to be exceptional.

“Remington, you know the kind of ruthless we're up against! What good can a woman do? In the past, they've

just been cannon fodder,” Zack said, barely concealing his impatience.

“That's a fair point.” Natalie listened quietly as Zack finished, then nodded slightly in agreement, her voice calm.

Remington caught the implication in her response. It sounded as if she was backing out, scared of taking on their

mission. His brow furrowed ever so slightly.

But if she wasn’t confident, there was no point in forcing the issue.

“Then, we'll take our leave,” Remington said, his voice tinged with disappointment as he stood

1. up.

As they both nodded to Dave and prepared to leave, Natalie suddenly pointed at Zack's neck.

“What's that about?” Zack asked, distractedly glancing down, seeing nothing.

But as he looked up, Remington halted abruptly, turning to stare at Natalie, his eyes wide with shock.

Two shallow cuts had appeared on Zack's neck and nape, which he hadn't felt. And Remington, standing just a

couple of steps away, hadn’t seen Natalie make her move!

“It's kinda itchy...” Zack muttered, scratching his neck with his thumb. When he looked at his thumb and saw the

telltale smear of pinkish blood, he froze.

Had Natalie exerted just a bit more force, Zack's carotid artery would have been severed.

Zack, belatedly aware of the danger, turned to stare at Natalie in shock.

Natalie never bothered to argue with those who underestimated her. She simply let her actions speak.
