Chapter 169 Sponsored by HL Corporation
“Do you want it?”
“Do you think I’m good enough for it?” Maia smiled sweetly. “Your beloved mother prepared the chicken soup. A mouthful of it
would take years off your face.
“Is this her secret for staying young forever? I think I should introduce a health and wellness television show. She’ll be our VIP.”
Maia would never forget the time she missed their curfew by five minutes because she needed to secure a deal with Lonnie. It
was five past ten when Rita pressed her head against the clock and questioned her if she sold herself out due to loneliness.
Zera was right there, but she did not lift a finger to help. Instead, she laughed and made things worse. Maia would never forget
that moment.
She had nothing more to say. She was going to head upstairs.
Suddenly, Cedric said firmly, “HL Corporation will sponsor this show of yours.”
Maia paused before pressing the elevator button and stepping into it. She kept her head down and did not look at him as the
elevator went up.
She was shocked the moment she pushed open the study door. The tablet she was holding fell to the carpet.
Her pictures were all over the study.
There used to be a painting that was worth millions of dollars on the wall. Now, her wedding photo took its place. It was huge and
conspicuous.
She looked so happy in the picture. It was the first time she had taken a wedding photo, but Cedric did not even show up. That
was why she was alone in it..

She smiled widely in the picture, but she knew it was just a lie she had woven for herself.
Maia could not help but grin when she thought about that. She used to be so naive that she turned a blind eye to the lie.

Her Prince Charming had finally appeared in her life, but he never loved her. Her fantasy was torn down when she finally saw
through the lie.
“It doesn’t matter what you do, Cedric. I’ll never let myself be moved by you. Never!”
She bit her lips, took a deep breath, and picked up her tablet. She walked toward the printer and pretended she not to see the
picture.
She printed three copies of the agreement and signed them. She lowered her head, not willing

Maia walked briskly and left the study. She closed the door and let out a sigh of relief. How she wished that she had not seen
any
of it.
Maia acted as if nothing had happened and gave the agreement to Cedric. He took it, chuckled, and signed all three copies.
These agreements were more precious than the usual agreements that were worth more than hundreds of billions. It was an
agreement from his wife.

Maia checked that there was nothing wrong with his signature and gave a copy to him. Cedric did not take it. Instead, he said
firmly, “You can keep it safe for me.”
She was his wife. Naturally, he trusted her to keep all of his stuff safe.
“I’ll keep it for you for now, then.” Maia folded the agreements and tucked them away.
“Here are today’s emails.” Cedric handed her his tablet. Maia took it and went upstairs without a word. According to the rules,
she would sleep in the master bedroom while he would sleep in the study.
They did not want to rouse any suspicion. So, Cedric would go upstairs after all the servants. were back in their rooms.
Maia read the hundreds of emails swiftly once she was in the master room. One–third of them were about “The Quest“. It was
going to premier at eight o’clock that night.

She was eager to see how it would turn out. She sat on a couch and replied to every single email. By the time she was done,
night had fallen.
She was a little tired. She curled up on the couch and slept soundly. She intended to take a little. nap, but she fell into a deep
sleep instead.
About half an hour later, someone opened the master bedroom door. Cedric saw that she was sleeping on the couch. He carried
her to the bed, which was much more comfortable, and covered her with a blanket. Then, he left.
It was already half past eight when she woke up. She opened her eyes and looked around drowsily. Somehow, it felt strange and
familiar at the same time.
She rubbed her eyes, propped herself up, and found out that she was sleeping on the bed. Her tablet was still on the couch.

That was weird. She clearly remembered falling asleep on the couch. How did she get into the
bed?
She opened the bedroom door. She could hear loud noises coming from downstairs even if she was on the third floor.

“The Quest! The Quest!”
The dance instructor and backup dancers were performing the theme song of the show. “The Quest” was playing in the villa!
Maia took the elevator and went downstairs quickly. She had walked into the ground floor living room when she saw Oswald
completely absorbed by the show.
“Oswald?” Maia was a little puzzled. Did he really love watching girl group talent shows at his age? Oswald heard her and turned
around, “You’re awake, Ms. Maia!
“Mr. Cedric didn’t want us to disturb your sleep. He ordered us to prepare food for you the moment you wake up! Just give me a
minute, Ms. Maia. This show is just too good. I can’t seem to tear my eyes away!”
“Is the show really that good, Oswald?” Maia was pleasantly surprised to hear positive feedback
“It’s very good. The participants are so adorable and they work so hard. The mentors are performing now. They’re great too!
They’re so funny! I’m an old man, but I totally understand what’s going on.
“I know what the rules are too! Your evaluation is so on point, Ms. Maia! Mr. Cedric’s eyes are practically glued on you for the
entire show!” Oswald had to smile.
Maia knew Oswald would talk about Cedric again if she let him. She cut him off and said cheerfully, “I’m a little hungry, Oswald.”
“Geez. I forgot about that. Hold on, Ms. Maia. I’ll prepare dinner for you!”
