Chapter 176 Let Her Sleep
She looked at Maia still sleeping in bed, and felt annoyed. Rita tugged at the blanket, and exclaimed, “It’s already late morning.
Why are you still sleeping?”
Maia was confused for a few seconds. What did it matter if she slept until late in the morning? She ignored Rita, covered herself
with the blanket, and continued sleeping.
Seeing Maia had no intention of getting up. Rita continued, “With this attitude, how can you be a good wife to Cedric? We agreed
to have lunch together at the new restaurant. Why didn’t you keep the appointment?”
Be a good wife to Cedric? Who said she wanted that position?
“Let her sleep.”
Suddenly, a deep voice came from the doorway. Rita quickly turned to look at the entrance.
“Cedric, it’s almost 10 am. and you haven’t gone to work yet?” Rita immediately put on a smile upon seeing Cedric. “I had an
appointment with Maia, but she hasn’t gotten up yet.
“The restaurant is booked for 11. Being late means losing the reservation. Oh, why is this so fond of sleeping in? I’ve never seen
her like this before...”

Cedric’s deep eyes narrowed when Rita mentioned the past. Maia used to be cautious, clearly enjoyed sleeping in, and was
frequently grumpy in the morning. But she always forced herself
to get up.
She had once changed so much for him, hiding all her flaws and revealing her softest side to him, only to end up battered and
bruised.
Cedric entered the room, tucked in Maia’s blanket, and then looked at Rita.

His voice was extremely cold as he said, “I will have someone contact the restaurant. They’ll hold the reservation for twenty–four
hours.”

With that, Cedric walked toward the doorway. Rita was frozen as she looked at the still- sleeping Maia, then at Cedric’s back.
Despite her frustration, she felt helpless.
Suddenly, Cedric stopped. “She will eat when she wakes up.”
This sentence left Rita completely stunned.
“You’re still not coming out?” His tone rang with impatience.
Rita glanced at Maia, who was still soundly asleep on the bed. Countless fantasies of Maia’s mistreatment flashed through her
mind. However, she maintained a smile and briskly left the
bedroom.

As she walked away, she said, “You’re right. I didn’t think it through. Let her sleep a bit longer.
Hearing this, Cedric suddenly smiled with profound meaning.
Maia was still dazed from sleeping until the afternoon. She had gone to bed around 4 a.m. the day before. She picked up her
phone from the side and looked at the time on the screen, stunned for several seconds.
It was 2 p.m.?.

She vaguely remembered someone calling to wake her up. Was it Rita? Where was she now? Considering Rita’s temper, it was
unlikely that she would let it go.
Maia looked around, ensuring she was the only one in the vast master bedroom. She breathed a sigh of relief.
But the next moment, she became a bit nervous. Swiftly pulling back the covers, she began checking herself in various ways.
After confirming that she had no injuries, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Who knew what Rita might have done while Maia was sleeping so deeply? It was better to st

cautious.
Maia got up and walked to the bathroom. She pulled her long hair into a ponytail after freshening up and changing into clean
clothes. Then she headed to the elevator.
Entering the elevator, she noticed a text message on her phone from Cedric.

“The restaurant is booked exclusively. Looking forward to your performance.”
Following the text message was the restaurant’s address, including the names of several staff members inside, all of whom had
been replaced by his people. Obviously, they were specifically there to protect her.
Maia was surprised that he was so thoughtful. With a slight lift of her lips, Maia decided that since Cedric had put in so much
effort, she should reciprocate.
She took the elevator to the first floor. Just as she stepped out, she overheard the maids whispering while cleaning the stairs.Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm

“Mrs. Rita has been waiting for over four hours, but Ms. Maia still hasn’t woken up. Just how long does Ms. Maia want to starve
her mother–in–law?”
“I’ve heard a few older maids say Mrs. Rita has a bad temper. How can she endure waiting for the young lady for so long?”
“Of course, it’s because of Mr. Cedric. Mrs. Rita stormed into Ms. Maia’s room this morning to wake her, but Cedric stopped her.

“That’s right! He even made Mrs. Rita leave the room, not to disturb the young lady’s sleep! Mr. Cedric really spoils the young
lady!”
“I was helping in the backyard this morning, so I didn’t see it. What was Mrs. Rita’s expression at that time? Was she angry?”
“She was very angry, but she had to maintain a smile.”
Listening to the discussion of the maids, Maia slowed her steps toward the living room. Her delicate brows wrinkled slightly. It
seemed she hadn’t remembered wrong. Rita had come to wake her up, but Cedric had intervened. This could be troublesome.
Maia walked briskly towards the living room, her face quickly adjusted to a meek and obedient expression.
Rita had been sitting in the living room for more than four hours, having consumed an unknown number of cups of tea. Upon
seeing Rita, Maia quickly apologized, “I’m sorry, I
overslept...”
Maia continued to apologize with a face full of regret. “I’m truly sorry, Mom. I shouldn’t have kept you waiting for so long.”
Rita was angry, but she suppressed her rage, considering the numerous servants around.
Cedric had already replaced most of the servants, leaving only a few dependable old maids at
Prismara Hill.
The ones Rita had assigned here, including Judy, were all sent back to the old mansion like they were nobodies.

Considering Cedric’s watchful eyes, Rita smiled and said gently, “Were you working late last night? Otherwise, why would you be
so tired and sleep until past two?”
