Chapter 183 The Path I Chose
He was badly injured. So, how exactly did he appear before her to help her up?
“Cedric!” Maia held him up.
“Silly girl.” Cedric glanced at her poignantly, “Do you think I’d die that easily?”
With that, he passed out under the hot sun. The ambulance soon came and transported them to the hospital. Maia was well–
protected when the car crashed and flipped over, so she suffered only minor injuries.
Very soon, the news about the warring couple’s car crash made it to the trending search online. Tess and Errol were at the
hospital the moment they caught the news.
“Sis!” Errol blew the whistle and signed while he was running. He saw Maia sitting on the bench in the corridor and rushed to her.
“Are you okay, sis? Are you hurt?”
Maia said nothing when she saw Errol. She shook her head instead.
“Thank goodness you’re okay, Maia. Do you have any idea how worried Errol and I were when we saw the news? What am I
supposed to tell your late mom if something happened to you?”
Tess held her chest and panted heavily. It was clear from her face that she was worried sick about Maia.
In the past, Maia would not have questioned how much Tess cared about her, but now, she could not help but be wary..

Tess was faking it now. Maia was sure about this at least. She remained quiet and stared at the operating room door, still acting
as if she had lost her memories.
“How’s Cedric holding up, sis?” Errol signed as he followed her gaze.
She shook her head and said, “I’m not sure. He’s been in there for quite a while now.”
“Don’t worry, sis. He’s going to be fine.”

“We’re sure you’re worried about Cedric, Maia. However, you can’t neglect yourself. Do you know how miserable you look right
now?”
“I’m fine, Aunt Tess.”
“L–Listen to yourself. Your love for him has grown ever since you lost your memories. I have
to say my piece.
“Do you know how he treated you in the past? Do you know that you were trapped in a fire

Maia stayed silent. Tess could continue her act for all she cared.
“I’m sure the car crash happened because of him. He’s a powerful and prestigious man. A lot of people want his head! I’ve told
you countless times to stay away from him. I only have your best interests at heart, Maia!”
“Knock it off, Aunt Tess. There’s no use crying over spilled milk. Sis is safe and sound, but Cedric is still in the operating room.
“I’m sure sis is still shocked by the whole incident. Let her have some peace.” Errol signed.

Tess was a little annoyed and caught his fingers midair.
“You’re speaking on her behalf now, but who’s going to be responsible when she’s hurt badly again? Do you want to be that
person?
“I don’t need anyone to be responsible for me. I’ll continue down the path I’ve chosen,” Maia said firmly and calmly.
“Look at her. Look at what she’s become! What’s the meaning of that? She’s turning back to her old self. She’s going to revolve
her world around that man again!”
“That’s enough, Aunt Tess.” Errol stopped her again, “Her memories are stuck from three years ago. There’s nothing you can say
now that’ll change her mind. She thinks Cedric is the one. There’s nothing we can do about her memory loss. Not even Cedric
can do anything about it...”
“Can you say for sure that Cedric didn’t make it happen? You saw the way he looked at your sister. He could very well have set

up the whole thing so that your sister would lose her memory.”
Maia had to admit Aunt Tess got most of it right, except she was the one who orchestrated the whole thing. Cedric merely played
along.
“You’re getting too worked up, Aunt Tess. I know you care about sis, but this isn’t the time for it. Let’s wait to see how Cedric’s
condition is.”
Tess’s anger abated a little at that.
Another set of footsteps could be heard in the hallway.

“Maia.” She didn’t have time to change out of her costume. She came to the hospital with Buck
as soon as she heard about the news and asked for time off from the film crew.
“Ms. Maia.” Buck called out for her.
She raised her head and said to both of them, “You’re here.”

“Hope?” Tess’s face contorted with rage when she saw Hope. She took a few steps toward her and pushed her away from Maia.
“What have you done to my niece? I’m warning you. Stay away from her!” Hope understood. why Tess put her guard up around
her. So, she remained quiet and stood to the side.
“Don’t pretend to be innocent! We all know the kind of person your mom was! Maia was the only one who was naive enough to
fall for your act. Heaven knows what you’re plotting!‘
Hope still remained quiet and allowed Tess to talk down to her. She had no grounds to retort her when it came to her mother.
“Perhaps that’s enough, Ms. Tess.” Buck couldn’t stand the way Tess talked to her, “We’re in a hospital, not on a street. Let’s
mind our voices.”
“It’s not like I want to raise my voice, but seeing her just pisses me off! What’s the matter? Are you here to check out on poor
Maia because you’re happy that she was in a car crash?”
“Hope made her way here because she cares about Maia, Ms. Tess. She didn’t even wait to change out of her costume.
“She got in touch with me and asked about Maia the moment she received the news. Then, she came to the hospital
immediately. Perhaps you should get off her back.”
