Chapter 184 Your Help Isn’t Required
Tess stared at Buck and sneered, “Good job taking care of Hope back then! Look at you, standing up for her now. You’re just an
assistant. What makes you think you have a say here? Furthermore, do you think Hope doesn’t know what her mother did?”
Tess looked at Hope. She clearly had it out for her.
“I’m just telling you the truth, Ms. Tess. There’s no need to be mean toward Hope and me. I’m Ms. Maia’s assistant. She
entrusted me to take care of Hope.”
“That’s enough, Buck. Stop.” Hope stopped him quickly. She knew it was pointless. Tess simply did not trust her.
“That’s enough, Aunt Tess. Sis already has enough on her plate. You shouldn’t add to it.” Errol signed, nodding at both Buck and
Hope, bringing an end to the dispute.
Hope smiled at him and nodded too. Peace and quiet finally descended in the hallway.
Maia had monitored them with her peripheral vision. Some moments passed and the doctor exited the operating room.
“How is he, doctor?” Maia asked worryingly.
The doctor glanced at her solemnly, “Mr. Cedric’s leg suffered severe injuries, Ms. Maia. He has a fractured femur. It mainly
supports our upper body, so it has a higher bone density.
“It’ll take between three to five months to recover, but there’s going to be a lingering effect. It’s a good thing it’s just physical
trauma, so it’s not lethal. That’s something worth celebrating.

“Thank you, doctor.” Maia nodded at the doctor. Then, she frowned and followed the nurse to Cedric’s ward. A flurry of thoughts
flooded Maia there and then.
She never thought that Cedric would have a fractured femur. How did he make it out of the car, then? How did he muster the

strength to get to her?
Maia a was afraid to recall the incident. The horrible car crash and the sky–high flames terrorized her.
Maia glanced at Cedric, who was lying on the bed in the ward. She was at a loss for words, so she just stared at his bandaged
leg.
The ward and his injuries did nothing to diminish his terrifying aura. He saw that she was staying quiet. He broke the silence.
“Let me see where you scraped your hands.” He reached out, wanting to hold her hands, but Maia pulled away.

“I’m fine. It was a minor injury. Anyway, our car crash is already the talk of the town. Baz is undergoing treatment too. I don’t think
he’ll be able to work for you for a good while.”
Cedric could hear a series of footsteps. Maia walked to his side and said swiftly.
“Aunt Tess and the others are here to see you.” She gave him a look, trying to hint at him. He frowned. Then, his ward door
swung open.
“How are you feeling, Cedric? Sis waited in front of the operating room for a long time. She was restless. She was worried sick
about you too.” Hope said affectionately.
Cedric looked at Maia and held her hands in front of everyone. Tess’s face twitched a little and said, “Maia can rest easy now
that you’re fine, Cedric. You have to get to the bottom of this car

crash. Don’t let the culprit off easy.”
“I don’t need you to tell me that.” Cedric said coldly. It was terrifying listening to him. Tess was momentarily startled before she
smiled and nodded.
“You and Maia are fine. I guess we’ll leave and get out of your hair now.” Hope nudged Maia with her elbow and smiled
deliberately at her, “I need to get back to the filming. I’ll see you again, Cedric!”

Then, Hope waved at them and left the ward with a smile on her face. Buck saw it and took off
after her, “I’ll drive her.”
Tess and Errol are the only ones left in the ward now.
“I have to say my piece, Cedric. I’m Maia’s aunt, her closest relative. I know you love her, and she lost her memories all the way
back to three years ago. She relies on you heavily and wants to be with you now.
“Normally, I wouldn’t agree to it. However, Maia’s happy, so I’ll give in to her wishes. That doesn’t mean you can just take
advantage of her when she’s vulnerable.” Tess was solemn.
“Is it true that you’ve taken over as Starlight Entertainment’s CEO? The company belongs to the Burgess family. It’s not exactly
right for an outsider such as yourself to intervene in its affairs. Nobody dared say anything because of who you are, but everyone
disagrees with it.”
Cedric sneered and asked, “What are you trying to say?” She beat around the bush and had to get to the point.
yet

Tess stared at him and cleared her throat. “I’ll cut to the chase, then. Starlight Entertainment belongs to us. It stands to reason
that one of our own should oversee it.
“Maia clearly has her priorities elsewhere now. So, I intend to take on the mantle with Errol. We’ll oversee the company’s affairs
together.”
“Aunt Tess!” Errol signed immediately when he heard what Tess said.

She glanced at him and stopped him, “This is not a request, Cedric. I’m merely informing you. You don’t have the right to be our
company’s CEO. I’m sure you know that all too well. I’m hoping we can do this civilly for Mala’s sake.”
Tess was adamant about what she said.
Cedric sneered, “What makes you think you can handle it?”
she was humiliated. So, she said at once, “I’m Rosa’s younger sister. I’m sure you know the kind of person she used to be. As
her younger sister, I’m not that far behind her.
“On top of that, Errol will join me as well. You must be aware of the Burgess Winery’s revenue for the past year.
