When Cedric was drunk at Stonebrook, he had admitted that it was all his fault. That he should not have lost his memories and
forgotten her.
Maia had always known that he regretted how he had treated her after the fire. She did not know that he had also regained his

Maia’s thoughts were a mess when he first told her that he had regained his memories. However, she knew that it was futile now.
He had missed the chance to reciprocate her feelings. It was already too late.
“I’m
glad that I remembered.” Cedric lifted his finger as he tried to dry her tears, but she did not give him the chance to do so.
Maia wiped the tears from her face and looked at him, “It may be so for you, but not for me! I thank you for trying to help me.
However, just causing a faulty elevator would not be enough.
I will personally make Rita pay for what she has done to me. I suggest that you be prepared if you’re on her side, because this
will not be over easily!”
He smiled at her lovingly. “How would you know I’ll take her side?”
Maia did not know what he was playing at. Judging from his reaction, he looked like he did not care, but Rita was his mother.
“I’ll always take your side,” he confessed.
Just then, Maia’s cell phone rang. She took it out and checked the caller ID. It was Nigel.
“Hello, Nigel?”
Cedric frowned when he heard Nigel’s name. Maia quickly left the room and headed out to the empty hallway. Cedric followed
her and held the door open. He kept watch and eavesdropped on her conversation.
“I’m fine. It was just a minor injury.”
“Maia, I heard that you’ve lost your memory too.

“Give me a few minutes. I’ll be there right away!”
Before Maia could stop him, he had already hung up. Maia was confused with Nigel’s attitude. The Nigel she knew was never so

Maia placed her phone in her pocket as she turned around to see Cedric standing by the doorway..
“What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to have a fractured leg? What if someone sees you?” Maia reprimanded him
while looking around to make sure the coast was clear.
“I’m the only one here on this floor.” In other words, Cedric had made sure no one else was
allowed on this floor.
Maia should have known that Cedric was not one to fool around.
“What does Nigel want?” This was why he had stood at the doorway.
“You should worry about yourself. We’re just business partners, remember?” Maia reminded
Cedric just stared at Maia unhappily. His frowned turned into a scowl.
“You should get back to bed and rest.
“Come with me,” he demanded.
“Why should I?”
“You’re acting like yourself 3 years ago, remember? It would only attract suspicion if you’re not with me.” Cedric’s reasoning was
cold. His face showed annoyance and a tinge of jealousy.
“I thought you’d already cleared the floor. Who else would be here?”
“The man you just called.” Cedric huffed in annoyance. He did not even bother addressing Nigel by his name.
“How did you know he’s coming over?” Mala was surprised. Did he bug her phone?
He knew it! Cedric’s face fell. He said that to trick Maia but got an answer that he did not like at all. He cursed inwardly, as he
dragged Mala back into the room.
About 10 minutes later, Nigel showed up at the hospital.
“Maia, are you alright? Did you get hurt?” The door flew open as Nigel came running in. He

“Nigel, let me go. I’m fine,” Maia said as she tried to keep a distance between them. She needed to do this to make her memory
loss claim more convincing. She needed to make sure that Tess would believe her.
Although she knew that Nigel was a trusted ally, she had to lie to him as well. If word were to get out, she would not be able to
guarantee that he would keep her secret.
Nigel froze when he heard what Maia had said. “Maia, you don’t remember at all?”
“Sorry, Nigel. I only have memories from three years back. So, I have no idea what’s been going on lately.” Maia explained as
she avoided his gaze.
Nigel sighed sadly. “It’s alright, Maia. I’m just glad that you’re okay. Don’t memories. You’ll eventually find them. Just don’t do
anything that you’ll regret. I will always worry about your
